Volkswagen is starting its performance series in the electric segment with the ID.4 GTX, similar to the Golf GTI. The lively SUV is equipped with an electric motor on each axle, making it the first model in the ID series with all-wheel drive. But reason comes first for Volkswagen, so the group advertises its new gem with the words: “Sporty like a GTI, comfortable like an SUV and sustainable like an ID.” In fact, the performance is remarkable, but not excessive given the weight of an SUV. The focus is on the good space in the interior, a lush trunk, as well as the high level of comfort that the normal ID.4 already offers. According to the list, the price is just over 50,000 euros. The ID.4 GTX rolls on 20-inch alloy wheels as standard. The lighting design is particularly striking because the LED matrix headlights are elegantly connected with a light band. The new one also has a lot to offer in terms of color: In the optional “Kings Red” (surcharge: 200 euros), the ID.4 GTX has a particularly sporty look and picks up on the striking interior design with the red decorative stitching. Five combinations, each with a black roof, are available at no extra charge: Stonewashed Blue Metallic, Scale Silver Metallic, Manganese Gray Metallic, Glacier White Metallic and Moonstone Gray Uni.

In addition, the ID.4 GTX has a navigation system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as well as Climatronic, voice control and a keyless entry system. Volkswagen has additional driver assistants and equipment options available as options for those interested.

In terms of combined consumption, the sporty SUV is economical. With careful use of the accelerator pedal, the ID.4 GTX comes to 16.3 kWh. This results in a range of 340 to 480 kilometers for the range, according to VW – depending on the driving style and the nature of the route. Fast charging with 125 kW DC charging power provides enough juice for another 300 kilometers after 30 minutes. In your own garage, a full charging cycle takes 7.5 hours via AC charging with 11 kW on a wallbox.
The GTX SUV can already be ordered. You have to be patient with the delivery time, Volkswagen plans to deliver the first vehicles in the summer.
