Ricochet Anti-cheattm Progress Report and the Open Beta
Original Source: RICOCHET ANTI-CHEAT™ PROGRESS REPORT – MODERN WARFARE® II, WARZONE™ 2.0, AND THE OPEN BETA RECAP
With the Call of Duty®: Modern WarfareTM II Open Beta behind us, #TeamRICOCHET has been analyzing cheating and hacking data to guarantee RICOCHET Anti-CheatTM is ready for day one.
During the test, a limited degree of RICOCHET Anti-CheatTM protections were operational, but the full breadth of our security infrastructure, including detection systems and in-game mitigations, won’t go live until October 28.
Before we go into our Modern Warfare II Open Beta security overview, we’ll discuss our launch goals.
Second RICOCHET Anti-Cheat
RICOCHET Anti-Cheat and its PC kernel-level driver will launch with a Call of Duty game for the first time. The next rollout includes a year of learnings, upgrades, and new game-protecting features.
RICOCHET Anti-Cheat will use a new, unified security platform beginning with Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty®: WarzoneTM 2.0 on November 16. This new method gives #TeamRICOCHET greater detection, more freedom to create and deploy novel mitigation approaches, and more regular security updates.
RICOCHET Anti-Cheat and its PC kernel-level driver will be in Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 at launch.
Mitigations in-game
All existing mitigation technologies, including Cloaking, Disarm, Damage Shield, and more, will be active at launch for Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0. Expect new in-game enforcement for cheaters. Progress Report Q&A explains our in-game mitigations.
vs. server
#TeamRICOCHET is transforming how the game client and server communicate by transferring certain processes to the server in addition to the client. #TeamRICOCHET can keep control over more gaming systems, protecting the game.
Kernel-level drivers
#TeamRICOCHET is updating its PC kernel-level driver for MW2. These changes will help with some of the following processes and prevent cheating. The driver will also give data to our detection and mitigation algorithms whenever cheaters enter the game. Our Player Support FAQ explains the PC kernel-level driver.
SMS Policy
PC Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II requires a text-enabled phone number. Existing Call of Duty®: WarzoneTM players who have validated their account won’t need to supply extra information to access Modern Warfare II and WarzoneTM 2.0.
Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 on Battle.net have the same SMS policy as Call of Duty: Warzone on PC, adopted in May 2020. Modern Warfare II on Steam requires a phone number.
SMS verification is key to our anti-cheat efforts, preventing illegitimate account formation. This helps our security team maintain account and game security for safe, fair, and pleasant gameplay. In August 2022, we need a text-enabled mobile phone number for new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) players. Before this modification, new Modern Warfare accounts could enter Warzone without SMS. #TeamRICOCHET saw more cheaters trying to access Warzone from Modern Warfare to avoid the SMS policy as the illicit account market responded to our security enforcement. The security team advised the change to further combat the illicit account market.
SMS is only required for game security. Call of Duty doesn’t market with SMS data.
Open beta recap: Modern Warfare 2
A pre-release beta allows us to test new approaches and systems before launch and keep RICOCHET Anti-entire Cheat’s scope secret.
Cheating is a constant battle. Cheating can’t be stopped easily. The security team learned what worked and what didn’t from the free-to-play beta’s rudimentary anti-cheat mechanisms.
Bans/Detections
Modern Warfare II Open Beta bans can be divided into two categories: accounts removed before and during the beta.
#TeamRICOCHET banned over 60,000 illegitimate accounts from the beta. 20,000 cheaters were banned throughout the beta.
72% of cheaters were caught before they played a single match, according to our data. For those who could play regularly (assuming every match featured cheats), our computers could detect and remove them within five matches.
Bans & Kicks
Some gamers experienced beta crashes that permanently banned their accounts. We’ve examined and found that crashing didn’t trigger unjust bans. The game can’t prohibit players. Our security and data engineers determined there was no beta bug that would have allowed this.
Unjustly affecting players was a system that kicked (not banned) users for inadvertent or intentional friendly fire. We appreciate how team-oriented our security systems are, however this issue was rectified quickly on Sunday. We’re confident about launch. Don’t shoot at teammates.
Despite our progress and system changes, cheaters will remain a problem. Every step we take forces cheat developers to be more severe. Your in-game reporting helps #TeamRICOCHET make games fair and exciting for all.
Spider-man: Miles Morales Hits PC on November 18
Original Source: Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is coming to PC on November 18
Miles Morales as Spider-Man is coming to PC. Miles Morales will be released on PC on November 18, 2022. Today I’m delighted to present Nixxes Software’s new features and pre-purchase bonuses.
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PC boasts various upgrades, adjustable settings, and compatibility for a broad range of hardware configurations, from high-end PCs to portable PC gaming devices.
The game has ray-traced reflections with multiple quality settings and sun and moon shadows. This adds realistic shadows with natural softness gradients to Marvel’s New York.
The game supports ultra-wide aspect ratios of 21:9, 32:9, and 48:9 on triple monitors. Similar to Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, the PC version of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales supports aspect ratios up to 32:9.
Miles Morales supports upscaling technologies like NVIDIA DLSS 3. This technique combines DLSS Super Resolution, DLSS Frame Generation, and NVIDIA Reflex to enhance frame rates. DLSS 2, DLAA, and Reflex will be supported.
In the graphics menu, you can adjust features, presets, and quality. Texture quality and filtering, level of detail, crowd and traffic density, field of view, windowed, full screen, and exclusive full screen rendering modes are all options.
We want to ensure that gamers with the latest gear can push their high-end rigs, but also that the game scales to less powerful computers. Below is a list of recommended graphics settings.
The game has bespoke mouse, keyboard, and controller controls. Using a DualSense controller on a wired USB connection gives you adaptive trigger feedback and haptic response. Steam Input lets you use a number of devices and remap keys.
You can pre-purchase Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales on Steam and at the Epic Games Store for $49.99 / €49.99. Pre-purchase unlocks the following game content early:
Two-suit pack, containing T.R.A.C.K. and Into the Spider-Verse. Early access to Gravity Well and three Skill Points to activate abilities.
Miles Morales is coming to PC on 11/18/2022. Pre-buy for early unlock benefits TRACK Suit, Spider-Verse Suit, Gravity Well Gadget, and 3 Skill Points
Nixxes and Insomniac have been amazed and humbled by the reception to Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on PC since late August. We thank you everybody and can’t wait to get Miles Morales into your hands.
Dataminers Find DLC Crumbs in Newest Elden Ring Patch
Original Source: Elden Ring dataminers uncover crumbs of DLC evidence in latest patch
Dataminers Lance McDonald and Zullie the Witch found indications of new DLC sections and ray tracing functionality in Elden Ring’s 1.07 upgrade.
Zullie posted a screenshot of Elden Ring’s level list, which includes “m20 00 00 00:??? Zullie says m10-19 signal legacy dungeons like Stormveil Castle (m10 00 00 00) or underground locations like Siofra or Ainsel (which are all preceded by m12). m20 may be a future DLC legacy dungeon, though it’s not guaranteed.
Zullie also cites m45. This doesn’t match any map files in the game, hence its meaning is speculative. My best assumption is that it’s the ID for a new overworld section for the DLC legacy dungeon (or dungeons, if FromSoftware has multiple expansions brewing). Alternatively, if m20 includes many regions like m12 underground, m45 might be used for DLC side dungeons.
Lance McDonald supplied ray tracing settings menu text. The main line “Ray tracing locks performance parameters for quality. Ray tracing is applied when returning to the title menu.” The lighting tech was always planned as a post-launch upgrade to Elden Ring, but it’s been a long time without word.
I’ve never found ray tracing worth the performance hit, although Elden Ring is capped at 60 fps and lightweight enough to run on the Steam Deck. If FromSoft is continuing expanding its megahit’s graphics, I hope it will add DLSS and FidelityFX or raise the framerate cap. He can dream, right?
Summary of Today’s Computer Gaming News
Overall, RICOCHET Anti-Cheat and its PC kernel-level driver will release simultaneously with a new Call of Duty title. The upcoming rollout combines a year’s worth of lessons and improvements with new security features and countermeasures to safeguard our games.
On the other hand, Miles Morales arrives on PC next month on November 18. This new spider man game contains upgrades, adjustable settings, and compatibility for a wide range of hardware configurations, from high-end PCs to portable PC gaming devices. The game incorporates ray-traced reflections with multiple quality settings and sun and moon shadows. This gives Marvel’s New York realistic shadows with natural softness gradients.
Finally, Lance McDonald and Zullie the Witch, both prolific Souls series dataminers, have shared evidence of potential new DLC areas and ray tracing support added behind the scenes with Elden Ring’s 1.07 update. Zullie posted a screenshot of an Elden Ring level list, which includes an entry for “m20 00 00 00:???.” According to Zullie, m10-19 indicate the IDs of legacy dungeons such as Stormveil Castle (m10 00 00 00) or underground areas such as Siofra or Ainsel (which are all preceded by m12). It’s far from certain, but the evidence points to m20 as the name of a future DLC legacy dungeon.
