In a new video interview, Capcom’s Hideaki Itsuno talks with Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama.

Itsuo shows his unhappiness in the PS3 when the two discuss their game creation careers.

Itusno explained how Capcom developers improved PS1 and PS2 games by studying the hardware characteristics.

“On the PlayStation and PlayStation 2, we could use so many semi-transparent layers. We could stack them for effects.

“No, we couldn’t do that after PlayStation 3. Everyone struggled in that times. “We felt cheated.”

Itsuno saw a distinction between Devil May Cry 3 on PS2 and 4 on PS3, both of which he directed.

“I made that shift between Devil May Cry 3 and 4,” he remarked. “They informed us we couldn’t do what we did previously.

“For five years, we only used semi-transparent layers to make PS2 games appear great. On PlayStation 3, we couldn’t imagine this. “I suppose [developers] everywhere battled.”

Itsuno confirmed the sequel to Dragon’s Dogma in June during the original game’s 10th anniversary stream.

PlayStation 3 is known for its complicated architecture.

Because of the PS3’s unique architecture and Cell processor, replicating the system would be challenging, which may explain why PS3 titles are only available via cloud streaming on PlayStation 5.

Many famous PS3 titles are only playable on the PS3, including Metal Gear Solid 4, InFamous, Resistance, Ratchet & Clank, and Killzone.

Jordan Middler of VGC was frustrated that Sony continues to disregard the old console.

It’s a sad how PlayStation treats its third generation, which isn’t supported by PS5.

It’s sad how PlayStation treats its third generation. Much of what’s wonderful about the platform now, like its focus on huge first-party games, started with the PS3.

“The reasons about how difficult it might be to get PS3 titles operating natively on the PS5 hold less water as more emulators emerge in the PC sector, running on technology considerably below that of a PlayStation 5.”

Sony Patent Shows Playstation Worked on NFTs and Blockchain Tech

NFTs are unique, non-interchangeable pieces of data kept on a blockchain (a digital ledger) that let users to buy and sell digital assets like in-game items and artwork.

The Sony patent (via Gamesual) is called ‘Tracking Unique In-Game Digital Assets Using Tokens on a Distributed Ledger’.

It covers a system to track the creation, use, modification, and transfer of digital assets made in a game or based on gameplay.

People find it meaningful to own or use unique goods associated to celebrities or activities, according to the patent’s background section. “Fans of skilled baseball player Babe Ruth, or of baseball in general, often aspire to own baseballs autographed by Ruth, baseballs hit by Ruth in an important game, trading cards featuring Ruth, etc.”

Sony says its system could authenticate the legitimacy of digital assets utilized by experienced gamers or popular content creators that other players desire to buy, sell, or rent.

“Skilled gamers of multiplayer video games earn popularity in matches or tournaments,” it added. “Likewise, well-known gamers often live-stream single-player or multiplayer video game action, such as speed-runs, in-game challenges, multiplayer matches, or other gameplay activities. Some skilled or charismatic players can establish significant fan bases, similar to athletics, singers, actresses, and other celebrities.

In certain games, players can use digital assets. Digital assets include characters, costumes, or accessories. In conventional video games, numerous versions of the same in-game item exist in the same game and/or in various games.

“Different instances of the same in-game item are fungible since they are identical. Even if a particular in-game object is rare, it is represented in the video game as a string of code that is identical to other instances of the same in-game item in the same video game or in other copies of the same video game. In traditional games, no digital asset is distinct from others of the same thing.

Traditional video games have no method to know, trace, or authenticate the history of an in-game item. In classic video games, it’s impossible to tell one instance of an in-game item that a famous player used to win a tournament from another.

Sony stated the patent application could be used to track the lifecycle of digital assets across numerous hardware platforms, including those “of a different, inferior manufacturer,” and games from separate publishers.

“The methodologies and concepts disclosed herein increase the possibilities of digital assets associated with video games, and of systems that create and manage such digital assets, by converting fungible digital assets to non-fungible ones.

“The methodologies and technologies presented here trace a digital asset’s history to improve the operation of video game digital assets and systems that develop and manage them.

“Tracing the history of digital assets can entail tracking when, how, and by whom the digital asset was created, used, modified, rented, sold, purchased, licensed, swapped, and/or other actions.”

Sony’s new PlayStation Stars loyalty program lets customers earn digital prizes for various actions. However, it distanced the program from NFTs, which have been criticized for their huge carbon footprint and disingenuous implementation. Grace Chen, PlayStation’s VP of network advertising, loyalty, and licensed items, told The Washington Post it’s not NFTs. Nope. You can’t sell them. It’s not using blockchain or NFTs.

Square Enix, Ubisoft, Konami, and Sega have started NFT projects or plan to.

Summary of Today’s Video Gaming News
