Netflix has removed the option of a free trial month in Germany. “A free trial period is not available,” it says simply in an information page of the streaming provider. It is unclear why the until recently still available trial period was removed.
The free trial month is still offered in Austria and Switzerland, and users in the Netflix home market of the USA can also try the service for one month for free. But this is more of an exception: in countries like France, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Italy there is also no trial period.
The Netflix free trial month was intended for users who want to try the service for the first time. Officially, a new account was always necessary for this – anyone who had used the trial month should no longer be able to book it in the future. In the past, however, users repeatedly found tricks with which they could repeat the free subscription in a roundabout way.
