Test conclusion: you have to know that
Internet and office tasks? No problem for the Aldi PC. It also does not too demanding photo and video editing without too long waiting times. It is a shame that the manufacturer Medion has saved on the power supply. Then the Akoya E32014 could even be converted into a gaming PC without major surgery. But even in the factory state, the equipment and the performance offered in the test are completely okay for a PC that costs 399 euros.

satisfying
D.he prices for technical products are currently rising significantly. One reason: Manufacturers can hardly meet the high demand during the pandemic. From May 27, 2021, an Aldi PC will come in handy. But is the 399 euro calculator really a bargain? COMPUTER BILD had the Medion Akoya E32014 (MD 34450) in the test.
Medion Akoya E32014 in the test: chic garment
Not clunky, not intrusive, not cheap: the Aldi PC, which is comparatively compact with dimensions of 39 × 38 × 16.5 centimeters, is housed in a housing that is as sleek as it is stylish. As is usual with many PCs, a headset, USB sticks and an external SSD can be plugged into the front? no one has to crawl under the table to connect a memory stick.
Removable cover
Unusual: The carbon-look front cover can be removed with four screws. Why? There were no other covers at the time of the test. But if you want, you can make a plexiglass cover with four holes and place a self-made motif behind it.
Comet Lake Processor
Much more important, however, is what is behind the chic facade of the Medion Akoya E32014:
- Processor: The heart of the new Aldi PC is the one presented last year Comet Lake processor Core i3-10100 ?? a lower middle class model.
- Random access memory: The processor is supported by a working memory of 8 gigabytes, which is not particularly large by today’s standards? for a PC that costs 399 euros, that’s okay.
- SSD: Windows 10, programs and data can take up space on an SSD with an effective storage capacity of 477 gigabytes. Shortcoming: The SSD has a slow SATA connector instead of a fast PCI Express connection.
No speed sinner
Inside, therefore, the top technology of a high-flyer does not work, and nobody should expect that in this price range. The Medion took the time it needed for the tempo tests in the test. If you want to do more complex photo and video editing, you have to be patient. For most everyday tasks, however, the performance is completely sufficient.

Calm, economical representative
Great: The processor develops very little waste heat, which the fan would then have to blow loudly out of the case. On the contrary: the Aldi PC remained pleasantly quiet even under full load. And with an average power consumption of around 28 watts, it is almost one of the energy-saving calculators.
Upgrade with a major shortcoming
