How to upgrade weapons in Fortnite Season 8: upgrade benches, vending machines, & crafting

[ad_1]

Crafting and Upgrade Benches are still the main means of upgrading weapons. Here’s how to upgrade weapons in Fortnite Season 8.

Fortnite Season 8 has once again shuffled the locations of Weapon Upgrade benches and changed what weapons can be crafted. While players can’t run to NPCs and get cheap and instant upgrades, it’s still possible to power up your gear.

From Weapon Upgrade Benches to Vending Machines, players can spend hard-earned bars to bump their weapons up a level. As well, players can sidegrade their weaponry to obtain weapons that better suit their playstyle.

Whatever you choose, this guide will help you figure out how to upgrade weapons in Fortnite Season 8.

Upgrade Benches Fortnite Season 8

The quickest but most expensive way to upgrade weapons is by using Fortnite Upgrade Benches. The Upgrade Bench is also the most reliable way to upgrade weapons in Fortnite Season 8.

Using an upgrade bench instantly bumps up the rarity of a weapon, but it comes at a cost. Players will have to spend hundreds of bars each time they want to upgrade their weapons. However, you just can’t beat the power of an upgrade bench.

Here is how much each upgrade costs while using a Fortnite Upgrade Bench:

  • Common (grey) -> Uncommon (green) = 200 bars
  • Uncommon (green) -> Rare (blue) = 300 bars
  • Rare (blue) -> Epic (purple) = 400 bars
  • Epic (purple) -> Legendary (orange) = 500 bars

The Fortnite.gg map below shows all of the Fortnite Upgrade Bench locations. In Season 8, there are 18 different Upgrade Bench locations. No matter where the next Storm Circle is headed, there’s usually a Fortnite Upgrade Bench nearby.

Alternatively, here is a list of locations where players can find Weapons Upgrade Tables:

  • Craggy Cliffs inside a garage
  • Steamy Stacks inside the main building
  • Believer Beach inside the trailer park
  • Risky Reels behind the main house
  • Dirty Docks inside a warehouse
  • Hydro 16 inside the smaller building
  • Durr Burger/Logjam Woodworks inside the warehouse
  • Camp Cod inside a building
  • Catty Corner inside the eastern building
  • Dusted Depot
  • Sheriff’s Office inside the building
  • Retail Row inside a garge on the west side
  • Shanty Town located on the docks to the south
  • Viking Vessel inside the garage building
  • Crashed Cargo among the wreckage
  • Lockie’s Lighthouse on the southern docking area
  • Compact Cars inside the building
  • Corny Complex inside the red roofed building to the east

Vending Machines in Fortnite Season 8

The second way to “upgrade” weapons is by purchasing a better one from a Vending Machine. These are a much cheaper alternative to upgrading weapons, however, they aren’t as reliable.

This is because players won’t know what weapons a vending machine carries until they get to them. As well, Fortnite Vending Machines only carry Uncommon (green) and Rare (blue) weapons. But, they also offer ammunition for a cheap price.

Weapons from a Vending Machine cost 50 Gold Bars. This is a massive discount compared to the 300 bars it takes to upgrade a weapon from green to blue. While you won’t be getting a full Legendary or Epic set of gear, Rare weapons are much better than Common or Uncommon.

Below is a map that shows all of the Vending Machine Location in Fortnite Season 8.

Craft Better Weapons in Fortnite

If you don’t have the bars on hand or want to pinch your pennies, then crafting is another option. This allows players to change the type of weapon they have by using Nuts and Bolts or Monster Cube Parts.

Nuts and Bolts are found in chests and tool boxes. Monster Cube Parts are dropped when a Sideways Monster is killed. Players will only need one of each to sidegrade their weapons. Below is a list of all of the weapons that can be crafted.

  • Pump Shotgun + Nuts and Bolts = Charge Shotgun
  • Level-Action Shotgun + Nuts and Bolts = Charge Shotgun
  • Assault Rifle + Nuts and Bolts = Suppressed Assault Rifle
  • Burst Assault Rifle + Nuts and Bolts = Suppressed Assault Rifle
  • Submachine Gun + Nuts and Bolts = Rapid Fire SMG
  • Assault Rifle + Cube Monster Parts = Sideways Rifle
  • Burst Assault Rifle + Monster Cube Parts = Sideways Rifle

Upgrading Sideways Weapons

The final method of upgrading weapons is unique to Season 8 and it might be the best option for cheap players. Season 8 introduced Sideways Weapons which can be found inside The Sideways.

These weapons are unique because they can be upgraded to higher rarities using Cube Monster Parts. Instead of sidegrading to different weapons, Sideways Weapons can be directly upgraded using the parts.

With each upgrade, however, the number of parts required will increase. Players can upgrade their Sideways Weapons all the way to Mythic. This final upgrade will cost 50 Cube Monster parts.
