If you love reading such guides, we have complete guides at Town Hall 12 and Town Hall 13 published for you on the website.
Clash of Clans Town Hall 11: What to follow after Town Hall upgrade is completed
When you finish off the Town Hall upgrade, you should ensure your resources are full and enough to busy your 4–5builders. When the upgrade is completed, you should look into your priorities, order them and go with it. As you kick start Town Hall 11 in Clash of Clans, it’s better to stay out of wars until you upgrade up your troops and semi-max defenses. Since it’s the last town hall level, you have plenty of time to go with it, Also, it avoids matchmaking weightage of a just upgraded Town Hall 11 in wars. Stick on farming and upgrades that build your base and troops.
Clash of Clans Town Hall 11 Upgrade priority
Town Hall 11 is a huge upgrade comparing to Town Hall 10. You have lot of upgrades to make, with many strategies to follow in attacks. Although following a particular upgrade order isn’t mentioned anywhere, but for a systematic base building, it’ll help. Always, have an idea of what upgrades are you going to make, think which is essential for the early development of your base and then go for it. To make things simpler, we have a basic upgrade priority mentioned below:
1. Laboratory
Essential and always the first priority of any clasher. The need of higher-level troops is very important, even if you prefer farming in that instance. The idea of having maxed out troops for the particular Town Hall is enforced by upgrading the Laboratory. Then again, you will have to use other resources to upgrade troops. But unless you are not raiding it won’t be a problem. As you can max out all the troops and spells in Town Hall 11, troop upgrading becomes important for farming and for wars too. But remember, don’t leave your lab free. Let it be running upgrading troops, a free lab delays your upgrading.
2. Grand Warden
A new hero is unlocked in Town Hall 11, which is the Grand Warden. He is still the only hero who is upgradable with Elixir in the home village. Grand Warden can be set as both ground and air unit. He is also the only unit in the entire game that can behave as both an attacking unit and a defensive building. The warden has two abilities on offense, the Life Aura ability (Passive) and Eternal Tomb (Active). A further guide with stats is mentioned below.
The Grand Warden initiates a range of his passive Life Aura upon deployment, which grants units additional HP. Any unit that leaves this range will not benefit from the ability until they re-enter it. The Grand Warden’s active ability, Eternal Tome, renders all friendly troops within his aura invincible to damage for a short time. Grand Warden is very essential in your attacks, upgrade him to at least Level 5.
3. Army Camps
Another elixir upgrade, where it is clear that abundance of Elixir is a must. The number of troops you carry definitely has an impact on the outcome. So, upgrading the Army Camp in Clash of Clans Town Hall 11 is significant, it gives you 20 extra unit space, which can increase the chances of a successful raid or attack. Even if you are short of elixir, you can collect them slowly and then upgrade your army camps.
4. Storage
You have to upgrade your storages in order to save more loot. To go with upgrades that cost more than the maximum storage we get in Th11, we need to upgrade the storages so that we can upgrade more buildings like Clan Castle which require more gold. While you are busy with the Laboratory and Army Camp upgrades, which are both Elixir resources, utilize your Gold on Elixir storage upgrades. With this, you can have plenty of resources filled for the next upgrade.
5. Clan Castle
Upgradable only after Gold Storage upgrades. On upgrading the Clan Castle, you get an extra spell space to fit in your Clan Castle. Total, space is upgraded from 1 to 2. It is a huge bonus, as you can carry an extra spell, be it two Freeze Spells or Poison + Freeze, in that combination. Also, you can carry one Rage spell or a Heal spell, etc.
6. Barracks
In Town Hall 11, two new troops are unlocked: Electro Dragon and Ice Golem. These two troops are important when you consider war attacks in general. They are pretty amazing to use, where many prefer Electro Dragons for their ease in use. Although it slows down your current troop cooking speed, you can manage by using instant upgrade items. Another issue is the overload of Elixir upgrades once you enter Town Hall 11, so it is necessary to manage things according to priority.
7. Heroes
By getting your Gold and Elixir busy, you can utilize your Dark Elixir for your Heroes. Barbarian King and Archer Queen both reach a maximum level of 50, which are Dark Elixir upgrades. Do this until you prefer keeping a Dark Elixir troop under upgrade in the laboratory. Its better you opt for one hero upgrade at a time. For example, complete Archer Queen from 40 to 45 first, then bring King from 40 to 45.

Tips to use Grand Warden
The best advice is to have him as a support troop, make sure he stays with the larger swarm of units.
Use the Grand Warden ability only when the troops are under a bigger damage zone.
Use the Grand Warden in Air Mode if you are using an air attack so he does not take damage from ground defenses and in Ground Mode when using a ground strategy as he will not be targeted by the Air Defenses.
Grand Warden is highly vulnerable against high damage units like Air Defense, Seeking Air Mine. So, advice is to trigger these traps with Balloons.
Life Aura and Eternal Tome ability
His Life Aura ability is most effective on troops with moderate health, such as the Balloon, Wizards, Bowlers, Miners, or Hogs. It is less effective on high-hitpoints troops such as the Golem or Pekka, which gain only a comparatively small proportion of its health from the ability.
Eternal Tome ability is a major boost in an attack. Your troops will be not affected by any damage to the ability time period. The ability affects only troops that are in the radius of the Grand Warden at the time that he activates it. Eternal Tome is upgraded every five levels that the Warden increases. The ability’s duration increases by 0.5 seconds per level. However, this ability nullifies direct damage only. For example, a Spring Trap can still instantly kill troops, while the Tornado Trap will still be able to pull troops in without dealing with damage.

Defenses
Eagle Artillery
A new defense unlocked once you reach Town Hall 11. The Eagle Artillery is a very powerful defense and carries a lot of weight to your base. This defense has a range that covers almost the entire map but has a blind spot similar to the Mortar and the Multi Mortar. It runs with ammo, similar to the X-Bow and Inferno Tower, it will eventually be depleted of ammo and become unloaded if the player does not log in after a long time.
The Eagle Artillery will light its eyes after the opponent deploys 150 housing spaces worth of troops. It will activate at 180 housing spaces worth of troops for level 1 and 2, for Town Hall 11. The Eagle Artillery targets according to a heat map that will be displayed before it launches to hit the target. In other words, it targets the area with the largest density of hitpoints.
Eagle Artillery adds a lot of weightage to your base. In wars, matchmaking becomes difficult if you have Eagle Artillery placed and the other defenses and troops are not maxed.

Troops
Electro Dragon
They are the meta among troops, as most of them prefer to use this troop for its high attacking stats and efficiency. Electro Dragons have no preferred target when attacking; they will simply attack the closest building.
It has a special form of attack known as Chain Lightning, a similar form of which is also used by the Mega Tesla from the Builder Base. This Chain Lightning allows it to hit up to 5 targets at once, but with decreasing damage for each target chained. Damage dealt with each chained target gets reduced by 20% for every hit.
Ice Golem
The Town Hall 11 upgrade allows you to unlock a new Dark Elixir troop: The Ice Golem. Ice Golems are powerful tanking units with low damage but high hitpoints for the space they take. Their attacks slow down whatever they attack by reducing affected defensive buildings or units’ fire rate by 50% for 2 seconds. Ice Golems prioritize defensive structures above all other targets and will bypass all other types of enemy buildings and troops while any defenses remain on the battlefield.
Another unique feature of the Ice Golem is freezing everything in a large radius after death. Upon damage, it acts as a freeze spell, with completely immobilizing any defenses and enemy units caught within. However, the upon death freeze does not deal any damage.
Offensive Upgrades
A common question and confusion. After I’m done with the Laboratory upgrade, what next? In Town Hall 11, plenty of troops are having upgrade options, which irks a confusion regarding upgrades. If you are focused on Farming, we would insist you to upgrade farming troops like Giants and Miners first. Miners in fact can come handy in wars as well.
Barbarians and Archers at any level can be handy for farming but at lower leagues. Hence our advice would be opting for tank troops and also war proficient.
It’s always better to make sure you have at least one preferred War Troop Combination upgraded before you play wars. These are some of our suggestions, which can be utilized for both Farming and Wars:
Bowlers, Electro Drags, Hogs, Pekka and Valkyrie and Miners. Town Hall 11 has a lot of war attacking options. The troops mentioned also come in handy while pushing trophies. These can also include different combinations of troops which are included after upgrades. While you upgrade Dark Elixir troops, manage them between the two heroes and the preferred troop you are going for.
Focus on Spell Upgrades too, according to use, have them sorted out.
Strengthen your Defense
The above priorities are mentioned in a perspective leaning towards improvements in the offense, if not particular but in some sort. On the defensive side, each defense has a single upgrade level to max them out, and you won’t get any new items to add to your base other than the Eagle Artillery. However, you can add four extra defenses, Cannon, Archer Tower, X-Bow, and Wizard Tower, one each to your base.
If you prefer your base to have lower weight, we strongly suggest you to upgrade your walls and continue upgrading the newly installed defenses. Upgrading the walls might seem a tiring process, but its best done than ignored. Most prefer only their defensive/troop upgrades and leave out arguably the most lengthy and tiring process of the game, upgrading walls. They aren’t tiresome when you invest all your resources to finish at least half of the wall upgrades.
Upgrade the Tesla Towers. It is always great to surprise opponents with higher tesla levels which most don’t expect on a growing Clash of Clans Town Hall 11 base. Another advantage is that they don’t carry much weight, unlike other defenses.
Installing a new X-Bow will add weight to your base. Again, Eagle Artillery also adds a lot of weight. If you are keen on playing wars, our suggestion is to avoid installing both these defenses until you are ready with good troop combinations and semi maxed defenses.
You can follow the upgrading order of Air Defenses, Cannons, Archer Towers and then other defenses.
Clash of Clans Town Hall 11 Attacking Strategies
Farming
Farming Tips and Tricks
Using an adequate amount of resources in the initial stages of your Town Hall 11.
Stay in a lower league so that you get to farm easy, with dead bases helping your way for more loot. Also, another advantage of not getting attacked often and thus, saving your resources.
Make sure to use a tank, to distract enemy defenses and churn loot outside the base.
Try to use a cheaper combo so that you can gain more loot advantage.
Farming strategies
A common farming strategy was mass goblins. But this has been not very effective because of how powerful Wizard Towers and Mortars’ splash damage is.
Mass Barbarians/Archers/Goblins in a league where dead bases are not frequent isn’t good work. For a spread out base it works, but it is not efficient against higher townhall levels. Even a dead Town Hall 11 can take down this combo easily. So, if you prefer this combo, stay in a lower league and then hit dead bases with resources outside the base.
Cheap strategies could be Giants/Miners + Queen walk with Goblins/Barch/Minions. Clearing out some resource buildings using Queen Walk, utilizing the miners and heroes for clearing out enemy units. In your clan castle, carry troops like Loons, Hogs, Baby Dragons to distract enemy defenses and help to loot more.
Giants + Wiz + Goblins/Barch is also a solid strategy for farming. Sometimes Giants + Witch gives you a balance between Elixir and Dark Elixir. The balance of troops within resources can get you to farm all resources effectively with ease.
Utilizing the events and reduced costs of troops is also an effective way to farm. You get a cheaper army to raid with.
Trophy Pushing
If you are pushing for a higher league, you can use the meta, Mass E-Drags + Loon. There are other good combinations like GiWiBo (Giants + Witch + Bowlers), Pekka + Bowlers, etc.
It is important to have good troop levels and the strategy you follow. Better heroes are another requirement, knowing different attacking strategies and troop combos makes you climb high. In the 30 second period, it is important to plan against the base, anticipate trap trigger positions, and then attack.
War Attacks
War attacks are different compared to pushing and farming. You have a lot of time to think about planning an attack on a base, imagining the traps and units that might get activated etc. Choosing the right strategy for a base is important. One attack strategy isn’t applicable for all types of bases, there are changes which can be followed. It follows on how you plan your attack, how your troops should go through, how to take out vulnerable defenses and so on.
War Attacks Tips
Always have your war troops and spells maxed out for Town Hall 11.
Always have a couple or more war strategies ready, and max the troops out.
Plan according to your opponent base, don’t stick on to one attack strategy, especially in Town Hall 11, majority bases are spread out and even some attacks in the meta can’t be trusted.
Don’t keep any heroes under upgrade/heal for wars.
Ask the pros for tips. Always refer to other attacks in the clan/internet so that you can get to know more tips.
If you are planning to attack a base that has been already attacked, try to look at the previous attack and learn about traps and plan accordingly.
Don’t rush troops early, patiently clear distractive buildings, and then push your troops inside.
For your reference, we have added some good war attack strategies to help you out in Clan Wars:
Electro Drag attack
This attack strategy is one of the best strategies whilst offering the brilliant potential of a 3-star attack in Clash of Clans. However, it is highly unpredictable, but still gives you an advantage over closed bases. It is the current meta among new players. Here’s a video on how it is executed.
Miners + Queen Walk
Miners are significantly used in both farming and war attacks in Town Hall 11. They are effective in attacking spread out bases. With Queen Walk and a good funnel from your cc troops, this attack yields you a perfect 3 star. Note that, use heroes to take out high damage units like Eagle Artillery and a couple of X-Bows so that miners don’t take a lot of damage.
The Witch + Ice Golem attack
Another popular attack strategy, you can have a combo of Ice Golem + Witch. You can also carry a Pekka if needed, to work as a tank, or to clear the spread-out buildings.
The LaLoon
Most of them find this outdated and ineffective, because of excessive use of this strategy. But in Town Hall 11, this is one of the strategies that has great potential to yield a 3 star. Tips for both Witch + IG and the LaLoon can be found in this video below:
These are just examples; it is not necessary to practice these if you have other better strategies. You can refer this for another strategy if you want to practice.
