Supreme Court to hear plea regarding postponement of Entrance Exams Today

SC hearing on JEE Main / NEET 2020: As per the latest update, the Supreme Court of India would be hearing petitions regarding JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 national-level engineering and medical entrance exams. The apex court is scheduled to hear two sets of pleas today. The first petition is demanding further postponement of HEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 exams further, beyond their scheduled date in Sept. On the other hand, a group of students and parents have also filed another plea challenging any further delay in holding of the entrance exam, as it would severely affect the academic calendar by delaying the admission process further. 

Plea demanding Postponement of JEE Main / NEET Exams

Amid rising number of Coronavirus infection cases across the country, a group of aspirants and parents have approached the apex court demanding further delay or postponement in holding of the exams citing health and safety concerns. The petition has requested that the examination be postponed till the situation normalizes.

Petition Demanding No Delay in JEE Main / NEET Exam 2020

Following the filing of plea demanding postponement of the national-level entrance exams, Gujarat Parents Association has also reached out to the apex court seeking relief from any further delay in holding of the entrance exam. The petition says that due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, the entrance exams have been delayed multiple time causing loss of precision time from the academic year for the students. The petition also pointed out that, the constant delay in the examination cause mental stress to students.

Admit Card Release Delayed, Expected Soon

As per the schedule released by the National Testing Agency i.e. NTA, the hall tickets or exam admit cards for JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 exams are expected to be released soon. The exams are scheduled to be held in 1st and 2nd week of Sept and the notification released earlier said that hall tickets would be made available to the students 15-days prior to the exam. Therefore, aspirants have been waiting for the release of the hall tickets for the entrance exams soon.
