The strategy game “Civilization 6” has been released for Android. The application is currently only available for Android tablets and can be downloaded for free from the Play Store.
But if you want to play “Civ 6” for a long time, you can’t avoid buying it: You can only play 60 moves of the turn-based title for free. The game must then be purchased for 22 euros. If you want to use extensions like “Rise and Fall” and “Gathering Storm”, you also have to pay extra. The download of “Civilization 6” is 4.2 GB in the Play Store.
In “Civilization 6” players lead their civilization from the Stone Age to the Space Age. Part 6 is the latest offshoot of the iconic “Civ” series and was released for the PC in autumn 2016. Since then, “Civ 6” has been ported to numerous platforms, including Xbox One, Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch. A version for iPads was also released at the end of 2017.
Android stayed lying around for a long time
An Android version, however, was not announced: Because of the numerous screen elements and menus, “Civilization 6” is hardly suitable for small mobile phone displays. In the tablet market, Apple is by far ahead, which is why Android probably had a lower priority for publisher 2k Games. Studio Aspyr, which had already released the iPad version of “Civilization 6”, was responsible for the Android port.
On Steam and in the Epic Games Store, “Civilization 6” currently still costs the full price of 60 euros – in comparison, the mobile version is even cheaper. In between, the strategy game was completely free for a short time: Epic Games gave the title away in May to attract users to its game store.
