SBI account holders while carrying out UPI based transactions were running into issues. The SBI UPI servers were not responding to any mode of the query. People were getting error messages like “servers temporarily unavailable” or “Your bank’s servers didn’t respond” due to failed SBI UPI server transactions. Google Pay, PayTM, PhonePe & more users were affected. The common issues people reported were while trying to make payments, check the account balance, or even while updating the profile.
SBI server issue had been first observed on August 3 and it took almost 8 days to get resolved. SBI while responding to the complaints informed that “We regret the inconvenience caused. There were intermittent connectivity issues with our UPI Server which have been resolved now. Please try again.”
People have reported that they were able to make payments using the SBI UPI app. But some have reported that while putting requests for refunds they were unable to get through. SBI has asked them to “Please share the details of your concern with our technical team at [email protected] if the transaction was performed through internet banking. Please mail the details (amount, 12 digit txn ref no. and date of txn) to [email protected], our Bank’s dedicated UPI help mail id.“
On analysing the complaints, it is found that people were finding difficult with transactions related to refund requests. Though the e-commerce app is showing refund operations complete but the said amount has not been credited through UPI Linked Bank account.
In the meantime, SBI had requested its online customers to opt for Yono SBI and Yono Lite Apps. These have been official alternatives for the SBI UPI server issue.
With SBI UPI issue getting fixed now, we should still keep YONO SBI apps handy for future. Till then happy banking!
