Russia and China are beginning to grow closer, both of which will begin their biggest nuclear power project today.

Russia and China will on Wednesday lay the foundation stone for their largest nuclear power project, under which Russia will build four nuclear power plants in two Chinese cities.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian told the media here on Tuesday that Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin would watch the ceremony held on Wednesday via video link to lay the foundation stone for the bilateral nuclear energy cooperation project.

The two countries signed an agreement in 2018 under which they agreed to jointly build units seven and eight of the Tianwan nuclear power plant and units three and four of the Shudapu nuclear power plant.
