The tender for this was issued only last year. When the tenders were opened last month, only the JV company with joint venture with China got the contract. In this only CRRC Pioneer Electric India Private Limited was found eligible among the six applicants.
Under the contract, the company was to supply 44 Vande Bharat trains and electrical equipment and other essential items to manufacture its 16 coaches each. The JV company was formed in 2015 by China’s CRRC Yongji Electric Company Limited and Gurugram-based Pioneer Phil-Med Private Limited. Now a new contract will be issued in a week. However, the railways has not asked to cancel the old contract.

The army chief has already given open discounts to the commanders
